Weekend Tappenings…

Posted by on Jun 13, 2014

Maybe I am biased, but I think Father’s Day weekend is one of the best weekends of the year! As a dad to three (under three-years-old), my appreciation of my father and fathers in general has grown immensely. And, lest we forget, the 114th US Open is down at Pinehurst, the World Cup has begun, and the NBA season might finally end! If you happen to be headed down to Pinehurst to take in some golf, be sure to check out Railhouse Brewery. Along with Father’s day, we have some other special events this weekend, so let’s get to it!

Friday the 13th, a full moon, solar flares, and Mercury Retrograde all in one day means one thing: you need beer!  In order to help avoid the bad luck here are some great Friday options for you!

PNC Downtown Movie Series is back featuring “Hunger Games”. Urban Soil will be performing prior to the movie, and there will be food trucks galore to satisfy your hunger! Quenching your thirst is a cinch with brews from Aviator, Crankarm, and Raleigh Brewing Co. “May the odds be ever in your favor…”

Sam’s Bottle Shop in Durham will be hosting a Heavy Seas and Eerie tasting from 4-7pm

Triangle Wine Co in Morrisville is Hosting a Sam Adams beer event from 4-7pm featuring their Sam Summer, Grumpy Monk, Rebel IPA, Honey Queen, and a few others.

Olde Hickory is taking over at Wine101 in Wake Forest from 5-7pm so don’t be afraid to grab a growler and head over. It just might be the good luck you need!

One of the single greatest accomplishments of a new brewery, aside from making awesome beer, is making it to the 1yr mark! This Saturday Sub Noir is that brewery! They will be hosting a huge anniversary party to celebrate. Festivities start at 12pm with Urban Entree, and Dump Pho King Truck (starting at 4:30pm) and Not Just Icing, Inc.(which includes cupcakes made with Sub Noir’s Ginger Tripel Eccentrica). A special Birthday Cask will be tapped at 4pm: an excellent Sour Flanders Red Ale with tart cherries and berries. You won’t want to miss this Party!

Heading up to Wake Forest? Then check out the Lennar Food Truck Rodeo from 11am – 2pm for food and fun at Austin Creek neighborhood. Grab a bite from the hottest area food trucks; The Parlour, Deli-icious, Barone Meatball Company and Dump Pho King Truck. Thirsty? Carolina Brewing Company’s AmBREWlance will be there pouring you a cold one, so round up the gang and live a little! Admission is free but food and craft beer is not. Music from the MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM Crew, plus great giveaways and prizes should make this the place to be in Wake Forest!

Happy Father’s Day! To all the dads out there, cheers!

Head up to Durham Central Park from 12pm – 4pm and enjoy the Original Food Truck Rodeo. With over 40 Food Trucks to choose from, you should have no trouble finding that perfect Father’s Day treat! Bring some blankets and chairs, pull up a piece of lawn and enjoy everything they have to offer!

Another event to check out is the 3rd Annual “Pickin’ for Planned Parenthood” hosted by Raleigh Brewing Company. If you enjoy Craft Beer, Bluegrass, and BBQ this is right up your alley! Tickets include 1 Clyde Cooper’s BBQ plate (vegetarian option available), 2 Raleigh Brewing Company beers, and entertainment by Big Fat Gap.

No matter what you choose, as long as it includes great friends and NC Craft Beer, you can’t go wrong!

Check back with us next week as we continue to let you know “What’s Tappening…”
