Weekend Tappenings…

Posted by on May 29, 2014

It seems like just yesterday we were saying farewell to NC Beer Month. Now we say farewell to May, which has gone by way too fast! This weekend has a few great events that you will want to be a part of, ending with an opportunity to give back to someone in our local craft community, all the while getting your hands on that rare gem you have been desperately searching for. So, without further ado, lets get down to business!

“If you ain’t First, you’re Last!” a saying made famous by acclaimed Race Car driver Ricky Bobby. Talladega Nights will be the featured film this Friday Night in Downtown Raleigh’s City Market Plaza. Festivities kick off abut 5pm with Nuclear Honey providing the pre-movie concert. American Meltdown, Bolt Hamburgers, Crossroads Popcorn, D’Burritos, Kona Ice, and The Pit will be serving up some awesome food. And, most importantly, you’ll have local beer choices from Aviator, Crank Arm, and Raleigh Brewing Co. Great music, delicious food, NC beer, and Ricky Bobby…Shake and bake!

Another place to kick off the weekend  is at Triangle Wine Company in Morrisville, where Southern Tier will be taking over the taps from 4-7 pm!

Calling all road warriors: Crank Arm Brewing is having a Weekend Warrior 10-20 mile Fun Ride! Yes, I said 10 – 20 mile FUN ride, with the funnest part being the finish. You start and end your ride at Crank Arm, so stay for a few pints after the ride! The ride begins at 12pm and nobody gets left behind!

Then head over to Carolina Brewing Company for their Spring Bash MS Fundraiser! There will be food trucks, entertainment, $4 pints of CBC brews and ALL profits will be directly donated to the MS Society. This event begins at 4 pm and it is family friendly, so bring the gang!

Sunday is a perfect example of just how great and supportive our local craft beer community is! If you have ever been to Tyler’s Taproom in Apex, you are sure know who Al Wallace is. Al is a friend, craft beer aficionado, and awesome barkeep.. Recently, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident, putting him in the hospital with piling medical bills. So, Tyler’s, along with a few other fantastic folks, has scheduled a fantastic event to help raise money to help Al. Many people have dug deep into their cellars and donated eclectic rare and vintage bottles for this great fundraiser. There will be silent auctions, randomly held live auctions, plus some great raffle prizes (not just bottles: golf bags, corn hole boards, coolers, etc). This is a great opportunity to support someone who is an important part of our local craft beer community! The event kicks off at Tyler’s Taproom in Apex at 2pm, but get there early, order a pint, and be ready to shell out some cash to help out a friend! Check the event Facebook page for a list of details.

We would also like to wish a Happy Birthday and Congratulations to Steel String Brewery – they are officially 1yr old! In typical Steel String style, they will be celebrating with live music, food, great friends, and of course their awesome craft BEER! Festivities begin at 4pm.

No matter what you choose, as long as it includes great friends and NC Craft Beer you can’t go wrong!

Check back with us next week as we continue to let you know “What’s tappening…”
