Weekend Tappenings…

Posted by on May 23, 2014

Memorial Day weekend is here and it’s going to be a big one! There is some great stuff going on in the Triangle, and all over the State! If you are one of the fortunate ones, you should already be on your way out to Asheville for Asheville Beer Week. The one thing you will want to remember is take a U-Haul and bring us all back some goodies, especially a keg of the coveted, once a year release of Wicked Weed‘s “Menage a Freak”! Also, we wouldn’t mind if you happen to bring us back some Passiflora Blanc and Oblivion Sour Red. We will gladly give you hugs and high fives, maybe even some 919beer schwag! As for the Triangle, let’s get down to business!

A perfect end to the work week begins tonight with a couple bottle shop options. The first is heading up to Sam’s Bottle Shop where they will be holding a Thirsty Dog “Reservoir Doges” event, which will feature Thirsty Dog’s Ginger Honey IPA, Cerasus Dog, Saison D’Chardonay, Berliner Weisse and Saison Paw Paw. Food will be served up by Blue Note Grill, and there was mention of a Shiner tasting.

Another great option would be to head over to The Wine Merchant in Cary. What they lack in size, they make up for in fun! They will have music, cornhole, commoradery, and of course 4 taps of some great beer to quench your thirst and prepare for the weekend!

We couldn’t have asked for better weather to kick off the two-day NC Hops and Roots Fest in Pittsboro. They will be featuring 5 breweries this year. Carolina Brewery, Lone Rider, Foothills, Top of the Hill, and Bear Creek Brews will be there to pour some local libations on this gorgeous, mid 80’s day! If you are in town, this is a festival you will not want to miss! Just make sure you bring your sunscreen and drink plenty of water.

If you’re looking for an adventure, look no further! Downtown Durham is the place to be for a Morehead Manor’s Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunt! Yes, we enjoy other things aside from drinking great brew! So add some fun and suspense to your Memorial Day weekend. Discover some of downtown Durham’s unique shops and attractions as you search for clues to help solve the mystery of who killed Diana DuJourn, Durham’s rising star. While you are there you will definitely want to hit up Fullsteam Brewery and grab a Summer Basil, or head over to Bull City Burger and Brewery; Can you say Duck Fries!!

If, for some crazy reason, you haven’t headed over to Shikori Hills for the NC Hops and Roots Festival, you have a second chance! The weather is going to be great and the NC Craft beer will be flowing! We need to show our support and love for the local craft breweries so that the festival will continue to grow and show everyone the amazing NC Craft Beer that many of us have come to know and love!

Something about Sunday screams out waffles to me. If the same can be said about you then head on down to Deep River Brewing! Belgian Waffology will be there serving up some tasty morsels to go along with the amazing offerings from Deep River.

Happy Birthday Steve O’Neill head brewer at Bombshell. In honor of Memorial day and his birthday, the ladies at Bombshell are having a bash! The event kicks off about 5pm and live music will be provided by the energetic Irish rock band, Nine Times Around!

We at 919beer would like to take a moment to recognize the service Men and Women who have died serving our great country! We are truly honored, and you will never be forgotten!

It’s Beer and Board games at Raleigh Brewing Company, so grab your favorite game and head on over! Today is also a great day to “Taste the Triangle” by heading out on a self lead brewery tour! Start at Aviator and work your way north or Gizmo Brew Works and head south!

No matter what you choose, as long as it includes great friends and NC Craft Beer you can’t go wrong!

Check back with us next week as we continue to let you know “What’s tappening…”
